Headed to my second rabbit show today. I'm exhausted. Got up at 5am, got ready, packed up the animals, picked up a friend and made the 2 hours drive to the show. It was a beautiful day for the drive. I took two Sr. Bucks and a Jr. Doe.
We we got inside and paid the entry fee and found a seat. There were about 220 rabbits entered today. Both of my bucks place first and second in Sr bucks, blue eyed white. And then BOSV. (Best Opposite Sex Variety) Then I went home. I should have stayed to see who won BIS, but I was anxious to get home. If you plan on showing, make sure the rabbits' tattoos are legible. Toenails are clipped, and rabbits are brushed. I I was pretty proud of my boys today.

There is an online auction going on right now for the Maritime Rabbit Breeders Association. There is a show coming up and we're trying to raise a bit of money. Someone donated a few Netherland Dwarfs, (none are Blue eyed whites) So I decided to look up what colours I could breed to what. I'm not good with genetics, but I know you can't breed a blue-eyed white to any other colour and use it in another breeding program. Blue-eyed whites are like a black hole, once it goes in, it doesn't come back out. There are some colours that can mess with the blue-eyed whites eye colour, though. I believe anything considered to be a "shaded" variety should not be used in a blue-eyed white breeding program as in can cause a ruby cast in the eye.
Anyway, I quickly found this great table:
