I just painted my nails with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri. I've decided to test my theory that it's just the top coats that make the difference in these so-called "gel-like" polishes. Going without using the actual nail polish that you're "supposed" to use. We will see in a week.
Here is the Revlon top coat on my left hand.
And the Sally Hansen on the right hand.
Now we'll see if it's stands up just as well as the proper polish. See you in a week!
July 17: Here they are! Not to shabby, I'd say.
My conclusion: it's definitely the top coat in both of these situations. You don't have to use the nail polish that goes with it for it to work well. They both stood up much better than my regular top coats. I like how thick the Sally Hansen top coat is and how fast it dries. But I think favourite is the Revlon. Put it with any polish you choose!
July 3: I've decided to try the Revlon nailpolish this time around. At about $8.99 a bottle, it's a bit cheaper than the Sally Hansen polish.
Decides to try a white color. There's not as big of a selection as the Sally Hansen. The first coat went on decent enough. And dried fairly quickly.
Im not very steady doing my nails. But here's the first coat.
Second coat covered better than other polish brands I've tried in white.
Top coat feels much like any other top coat I've had before. Doesn't seem like anything special. So, we'll see. I'll see ya in a week!
July 11: Here is what my left hand looks like now. I'm thinking that it has to do with the top coat. I'm going to try it with a nail polish of a different brand and see how it stands up.
Today I went to the store and bought some nail polish. Let's rewind a bit, shall we?
Monday I painted my nails with a colour I love. I believe it's called Peachy Keen from China Glaze. I saw it on Pinterest and knew it was the perfect colour. I had to order it on line to get it. Today is Thursday and most of it is gone off my nails. It chips very easily. I even made sure to put on a base coat and bought a new No Chip top coat. It started to chip off the next day. Now I admit, I'm hard on my nails. But this came off way too easy. I want something tougher.
I had gel polish done professionally and I loved it. So, I thought I'd try it my self.
The nailpolish itself is quite nice, with a wide applicator, but it's the top coat that acts as the gel. It's very thick. The polish dries quite quickly. The whole process took less than 5 minutes.
First coat on. Doesn't look too bad!
All done! Just FYI, I used the colour Tribal Sun (620). I wanted something summery.
Today is June 23. I'll repost back in one week!
July 2, 2016: Here we are a little over a week later. I can't say that I'm impressed with this nail polish really. Nothing really gel-like about it. But it is a good polish. I'd probably give it 3.5 out of 5. On to the pictures, shall we?
Again, I'm very hard in my hands. So this is probably about normal for me after about a week of nail polish. This is my left hand, btw. I'm right handed, but surprisingly by right hand doesn't look quite as bad.
It might be hard to see, but there are small line cracks in the polish at the edge. Revlon diamond cot promises not to do that. I'll be trying that next.
I will buy more of the Sally Hansen stuff, but at $12.99 a bottle, not many. But they have such beautiful colours I can't wait to try that it might be hard to resist. But we're all intitled to treat ourselves every once in a while. 😊
So, I found some Sally Hansen Triple Shine nail polish in the discount bin at the local drug store. I grabbed two of them, because, why not? So last night I painted my nails. And my toenails. (I also used a Wet 'N Wild nail polish as a base for the white sparkle) Triple Shine Seanic, Triple Shine Pearly White, Wet N Wild Putting on Airs
I put a strengthener on my nails first, then I did 2 coats of the blue. Then I added the Pearly White to the tips. 2 coats. Then a top coat of OPI Start to Finish. (I know it doesn't look that great, but lets see how it holds up)
I put the Seanic on my toes. I thought it was going to be more of a uniform kind of color, but it really wasn't. I did 3 coats.
Here is a picture that I took yesterday, after doing hardly anything up until this point.
I did a lot of work with my hand yesterday. So here's a picture I took this morning. (And also one of my toes)
Needless to say, I'm not overly impressed.
